DWS

The team at Don Whitley Scientific engaged Glenelg to bring a fresh perspective to their product development program. Initially focussing on a new aspirator product, Glenelg were tasked to provide design and manufacturing insight to complement the technical skills of the in-house team. The resulting product, the Whitley AsPROvac, combines a stand-out aesthetic with market leading performance and led to the development of further complimentary additions to the DWS range; the AtmoGen and Incubation Box.
The AtmoGen is a jar gassing system building on the longstanding DWS offering. Glenelg optimised internal componentry and replaced the fabricated frame with precision moulded parts. This resulted in a smaller footprint, lighter weight and refined aesthetics, whilst still providing significantly improved performance when measured against the previous model.
The Incubation Box is a stackable anaerobic jar offering a number of benefits over standard, round offerings. Lids and bases can be nested for storage, assembled boxes may be stacked during incubation and the rectangular form is a more efficient use of space. The Incubation Box maintains anaerobic conditions for longer than similar products in like-for-like testing.
DWS also make use of our experience in other sectors, for example the design and prototyping of bespoke trolleys for workstations (right) that may be manufactured and assembled in-house. Our contacts and knowledge with regards tooling and manufacture, in both the UK and Far East, have allowed DWS to facilitate new suppliers and processes, maintaining their position as an innovative market leader in microbiology equipment.
